The company owns and operates generation capacity spanning coal-fired, gas-fired, hydroelectric, and other plants, totaling more than 3,000 megawatts. NiSource invests about 1.4 billion annually to update and maintain its energy infrastructure. Headquartered in Merrillville, Indiana, it maintains a significant presence in Columbus, Ohio, and employs thousands of people. The company traces its origins to NIPSCO.
