Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) is a private, independent corporation established in 1917 to administer and invest the pension fund for active and retired teachers in Ontario. Headquartered in Toronto with additional offices globally, OTPP manages a diversified investment portfolio, including public equities, fixed income, and alternative investments such as real estate, infrastructure, and private equity. It invests in both domestic and international markets, employing strategies like bottom-up stock picking and absolute return for equity and fixed income portfolios respectively. OTPP's investment portfolio is well-balanced, with a significant portion allocated to alternative investments, reflecting its long-term investment horizon. As of 2008, it had over 284,000 active and retired members, with a total contribution of $2.3 billion received from teachers and the provincial government.
