OlfaGuard Ltd is a bio-nanotech company based in Haifa, Israel, focused on enhancing food safety through innovative technology. The company has developed an E-nose that utilizes an array of nanotech-based sensors specifically designed to detect pathogens, such as Salmonella and E. coli, on food. These sensors function by identifying microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs) associated with these pathogens. Currently in the research and development phase, OlfaGuard is leveraging technology derived from four patents licensed from the Technion and Professor Hossam Haick. The sensors are intended for single-use and provide results with high specificity in a matter of minutes, making it possible for users to identify foodborne pathogens without the need for professional personnel or laboratory settings, thus offering a cost-effective solution for food safety.
