Huntington Ingalls Industries

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is the largest independent military shipbuilder in the United States, established as a spin-off from Northrop Grumman in 2011. The company operates primarily through two segments: Ingalls Shipbuilding and Newport News Shipbuilding. Ingalls specializes in the construction of non-nuclear-powered ships, including amphibious assault vessels and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, while Newport News focuses on nuclear-powered ships, being the sole producer of Gerald Ford-class aircraft carriers and a key subcontractor for Virginia and Columbia-class submarines. All of Huntington Ingalls' business activities are conducted with the United States Government, primarily through contracts with the Department of Defense. The company also expanded its capabilities through acquisitions, including The S.M. Stoller Corporation and UniversalPegasus International Inc. in 2014.
