Formerly known as DONG Energy, Ørsted has undergone a significant transformation over the past decade, committing to a vision of a world powered entirely by green energy. The company has dramatically reduced its coal consumption by 73% and aims to completely phase out coal by 2023. As a global leader in offshore wind, Ørsted holds a 25% market share, providing energy to approximately 9.5 million people. By the end of 2023, Ørsted operated 8.9 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity, with the United Kingdom being its largest market, followed by Germany and Denmark. The company is also expanding its presence outside Europe with projects in Taiwan and the United States, where it operates 4.8 gigawatts of onshore wind and solar assets. In addition to its renewable initiatives, Ørsted still engages in traditional utilities, including conventional power plants.
