Xzero is a Swedish company that has spent 20 years in R&D for a new technology for process water in the micro- and nanoelectronics industries. The basic idea is to recycle the water from waste water into Ultrapure Water. The most recent challenge has been to remove nanoparticles in order to make sure these are not spread in the environment and not enter the Ultrapure Water used in cleaning of the nanoelectronics. Third party tests done by The Royal Institute of Technology and Swedish Environmental Research Institute (Sweden), Clarkson University (US), Manta Inc(US) and Anton Paar (Austria) have confirmed that Xzero technology is more efficient than existing technologies in removing nanoparticles from water. In January 2015, Xzero started to industrialize the technology in co-operation with researchers at the Royal Institute of technology in Stockholm, Sweden and at the leading European organization for microelectronics development – imec in Leuven, Belgium. Testing of the first full scale prototype of the industrialized equipment commenced in August 2016 and final industrialized equipment is slotted to be delivered to imec during the first half of 2019. In order to complement the researchers already working on the project, Xzero is recruiting experienced and professional engineers for the industrialization work and experienced sales people for tha marketing. In the commercialization phaseXzero will continue working with imec. Imec has offices in Belgium, the Netherlands, Taiwan, USA, China, India and Japan and a staff of about 2,400 people including several hundred of industrial residents from leading international nanoelectronics companies. MEMBRASENZ GmbH was founded in June 2015 by Dr. Jelena Stojadinovic and Prof. Dr. Fabio La Mantia. The company's mission is to supply innovative gas separator solutions for electrolyzers’ industry and make hydrogen universally accessible. Moreover, MEMBRASENZ’s vision is to be the supplier of resource supporting products enabling the sustainability of sense and integrity based energy systems. The company is a spin-off of the Center for Electrochemical Sciences at the Ruhr-University Bochum. MEMBRASENZ has been supported by German Ministry of Economy and Energy BMWi (EXIST grant), Cluster of Excellence RESOLV "Ruhr Explores Solvation" and Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

geoSilica

geoSilica, founded in 2012 by Fida Abu Libdeh and Burkni Pálsson, originated from their academic research in energy and environmental engineering at the University of Iceland. The company began operations at the Hellisheidi Power Plant, collaborating with ON Energy to exploit the mineral-rich geothermal water. Through a proprietary two-step production process, geoSilica enhances the concentration of silica in the geothermal water without altering its chemical composition, subsequently replacing it with clean groundwater to produce highly pure silica particles. The production process is entirely chemical-free. In late 2014, geoSilica launched its first product, a liquid silica supplement derived from 100% natural ingredients, aimed at promoting health benefits for hair, skin, bones, and muscles. The company is also actively developing new products to expand its offerings.

APR2

APR2 was founded in 2002, its core business is the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) collection and recycling. Faced with large volumes of plastic monitors, printers, computers, etc.), for a long time there was no solution to process this plastic considered end waste and intended for the burial or incineration. APR2 was not satisfied with the negative environmental impact of this situation and decided to massively in R&D in order to develop industrial sorting and recycling solutions.

EcoCinetic

EcoCinetic is a start-up located in La Rochelle, which develops and sells hydraulic turbines on the water, without threshold or dam, called tidal turbines. This technology was conceived in the issue of respect for the environment. These tidal turbines make it possible to produce electricity (from 1kW to 40 kW) by capturing the kinetic energy of the currents. EcoCinetic has acquired an incomparable experience in the operation of turbines in rivers and estuaries.

The company focuses on magnetic liquids, which are aqueous solutions containing ferromagnetic particles that can be polarized in a magnetic field. This innovative approach is rooted in a patented technology developed through collaboration between Professors Davide Moscatelli and Luca Magagnin and their industrial partners, leveraging expertise from the galvanic sector and emissions treatment. Captive Systems' technology includes micro-aggregates of functionalized magnetic nanoparticles, which are effective in removing a variety of pollutants, such as fuels, oils, fats, and metals from industrial wastewater. This capability helps industrial facilities comply with stringent environmental regulations while promoting sustainable operational practices.

Using a pyrolysis technology, MDF waste is converted into high value activated carbon that helps provide our planet with clean air, clean water and clean soil. Act&Sorb’s mission is to develop the greenest commercial recycling solutions for hard to recycle or non-recyclable waste streams such as MDF. As pollutants in our water, air and soil are impacting the planet, we’ve created a process that converts MDF into a high value material that helps make our world cleaner. A process that turns one industry’s waste into the other’s raw material. Act&Sorb was established in 2016 and is based in Houthalen-Helchteren, Belgium.
