At the beginning of the 20th century, BIGAS ALSINA, SA, created a small boiler workshop dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of steam generators and pressure vessels. Our activity was soon linked to companies in the meat sector, which still exist in the vicinity of the company. Together with these companies BIGAS ALSINA, SA developed machinery that was adapted to the different needs that arose, and learned to adapt to the changes, sometimes important, which the meat sector has to face often. This relationship has been maintained until today, where in our facilities we continue to manufacture and provide technical solutions to the new needs and challenges that arise in the market.

Magnomics is a medical technology company specializing in rapid, portable molecular diagnostic tests applicable to human health, veterinary, and food industries. The company aims to produce affordable, disposable diagnostic cartridges at scale for global distribution. With a team experienced in biotechnology, electronics, and physics, Magnomics has developed a portable PCR device that operates without the need for specialized training. This device utilizes a novel magnetoresistive DNA sensing technology to integrate sample preparation, amplification, and DNA detection in a single cartridge. The company's initial focus is on detecting bovine mastitis, a condition causing significant financial losses in dairy production. The veterinary diagnostics market, valued at approximately €4 billion, presents ample opportunity for innovation with low regulatory barriers. Magnomics has secured seed financing and is actively pursuing additional funds to complete prototyping of its first product. By offering a convenient and efficient solution for pathogen detection directly on the farm, Magnomics aims to address the limitations of existing diagnostic tools and improve treatment outcomes for livestock.
