HiyaCar
Equity Crowdfunding in 2021
Car fiend Graeme worked long hours in the City and knew his car cost him money just to sit on his drive, doing nothing. Not so much an asset, more of a liability. With the help of e-commerce expert Rob, the pair realised that a car-sharing app (an ‘AirBnB for cars’) might offer a smarter, more environmentally friendly way for people in Britain to hire the 10 million cars rented here every year. The pair began work in August 2014, and it soon became clear that the obstacle to unlocking the value in people’s cars was simple: the keys, and the time it took to hand them over. The team worked on an app-controlled box which allowed users to unlock cars direct from the app. The QuickStart® box was born. Rob and Graeme hired their first employee in 2016, and have watched hiyacar evolve into a friendly, living community, and a company of 16 people. hiyacar still puts people first - and unlike others they were born and bred in Britain. Each hiyacar shared could take the equivalent of 11 vehicles off the road. People are getting to know their neighbours, too. Hiya Owners add personal touches, such as putting ribbons on a car for a wedding. It’s a new way to drive, and something they are very proud of.

Uniti Sweden
Equity Crowdfunding in 2018
The automotive industry is more destructive than it needs to be. The vehicles we drive today are extremely harmful to our planet and even our health, with vehicle emissions causing more premature deaths than car accidents. These numbers are even more extreme in cities, which host 54% of the world’s population, a number that continues to grow. People in cities have become accustomed to the toxic smell, but these emissions are completely unnecessary and cause critical problems that must be addressed, such as a recent study that showed a direct link between emissions and clinical mental health problems in children. This is especially troubling when you consider that only 2-3% of the energy burned in cars today actually moves its passengers. The average vehicle weight is 1.8 tonnes, while the average occupancy per vehicle trip is only 1.2 people, and 80% of these vehicle trips are less than 25km. Uniti is a Swedish electric car start-up focusing on a simplified modular vehicle platform, highly sustainable materials and processes, and a user experience that matches the most advanced consumer electronics. Our first product to market is a two-seater city-car in the EU L7e regulatory category. This category gives significantly greater freedom for innovation with far lower barriers to entry. The prototype is due in December 2017, and we already have a strong demand including many pre-orders.
